The first picture is the stove for the banya... it was VERY heavy!! The second one is Anatolie installing the stove... the bottom part is where they burn the wood and the top is a stainless steel reservoir for the water. When it is finished it will be the fanciest banya in all of Krasnaya Niva and maybe even Shadrinsk!!!

okay, I'm a dork, but what is a banya? Regardless, it looks AWESOME!
The Banya is a lot of work to build... NO NO NO Rebecca, you are NOT a dork... the banya works almost like a sauna... you heat up the stove, put water in the top, some bricks down below, throw water on them and then you get lots of steam... you steam the dirt out of your body according to Russians. They do not feel clean with just a simple shower. After they've sat and sweated for a while they go into this other room, and rinse off... then they beat each other's back with birch branches! I know... it's a culture thing... Does it makes sense now??? :-)
