A Russian Christmas

January 7, 2009 is the Russian Orthodox Christmas Day. It is not celebrated the same as in America. Their big celebration is New Years Day as well as Old New Year which is January 13, 2009. Eivind and I spent New Years Day, Christmas Day and Old New Year Russia a couple times. It was wonderful. I have found pictures on the BBC website. I am posting a couple. The midnight service in Moscow's Christ the Saviour cathedral was led by the Russian Orthodox Church's interim leader, Metropolitan Kirill. Members of Christian Orthodox Churches around the world are celebrating Christmas, which according to the Julian calendar falls on Wednesday.
